Why 1 January 2027 matters

EU F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573 changes what you can install in homes.

2027

R32 leaves small heat pumps

New monobloc and split air-to-water heat pumps up to 12 kW with GWP ≥ 150 can no longer be placed on the EU market. Natural refrigerants like R290 become the standard.

A3

R290 is flammable

Charge limits, safety distances, ventilation, leak detection and the right tools are now part of every job. Mistakes cost money — and safety.

2029 → 2035

More bans are coming

Split air-to-air units ≤12 kW follow in 2029, and fluorinated gases are phased out of small systems by 2032–2035. The skills you build now last.
